NYACH, in collaboration with the Lehman College School of Continuing and Professional Studies (Lehman SCPS), the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), and the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) is launching a second round of the 6-month transition to practice (TTP) program for registered nurses (RN).

Program Information

Participants admitted into the program (“TTP students”) will receive a total of 30 hours per week of clinical and didactic training for 6 months. TTP students will participate in 24 hours per week of hands-on clinical nursing under the supervision and guidance of a preceptor at a participating hospital. The remaining 6 hours per week will be spent in classroom and simulation training at Lehman College in the Bronx. The curriculum, which was developed with employer input, focuses on the development of critical thinking, communication, leadership and research skills.

The TTP students will be responsible for purchasing liability insurance and completing hospital clearance procedures. They will be eligible to receive an educational stipend of $8,640 over the course of the 6-month program period for participation in the program and to support cost of living. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate issued by Lehman SCPS.
