From March 11-14th, NYACH attended the Vizient Nurse Residency Conference in Orlando, Florida, along with 16 nurse leaders from the NYC Nurse Residency Consortium representing 21 hospitals. The conference convened Nurse Residency Program (NRP) coordinators from across the country to share best practices, highlight successful models, and build a community of practice. Also in attendance were the leaders of other State- and City-wide consortiums, including those in Hawaii, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
The conference was perfectly timed, as 27 of the hospitals from the NYC NRP Consortium will be launching the year-long program by the end of April. The first cohort will provide approximately 250 newly-hired, first time nurses with mentorship support and on-the job training that focuses on topics including ethics, decision making, clinical leadership, and the incorporation of research-based evidence into practice. The goal of the program is to promote nurse satisfaction, performance, and retention.
The Citywide NRP is being offered in partnership with the Greater New York Hospital Association, NYU Langone Health, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Learn more about the program HERE.
